Des Moines, Iowa – State Representative Tyler Olson of Cedar Rapids encourages Iowa entrepreneurs to submit business plans for the 2nd annual John Pappajohn Iowa Business Plan Competition. The competition, which is designed to stimulate business development in Iowa, is open to all new start-up and young companies and will award 25,000 for first prize, $15,000 for second, and $10,000 for third.

“I hope Iowa entrepreneurs will take advantage of this unique opportunity and participate in the Iowa Business Plan Competition,” said Olson. “The competition is a great way to encourage Iowans to put their great business ideas into action.”

Participants in the competition can seek assistance with business plan entries from John Papajohn centers across the state. Information on rules, eligibility, time lines, and locations for John Pappajohn centers is available at www.iowabusinessplancompetition.com.

There will be two rounds- the first will last from March 1 – April 15, 2007, where only executive summaries will be accepted. After initial screening, those selected to continue in the contest will be notified by May 15 to submit their completed business plan by June 30.
